With the latest update to Wear OS, smartwatches now support loyalty cards through Google Wallet. This exciting new feature is intended to enhance convenience and improve the user experience.

Before this update, top Wear OS smartwatches like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and the Google Pixel Watch 2 could only connect with credit or debit cards via Google Wallet. For users looking to wirelessly scan digital loyalty cards from popular retailers such as Starbucks or Barnes and Noble in the US, or Waterstones in the UK, this was a downside, as using these cards required another device.

However, with the new update 23.46.x that has started being deployed to Wear OS watches, all your loyalty cards stored in Google Wallet will seamlessly synchronize to your smartwatch. This convenience is only accessible on smartwatches running Wear OS 3.5 or later versions, provided the software is up to date.

According to 9to5Google's report, you can easily access your payment methods, which now include all your loyalty cards. With a simple tap, you can pull up any card you want in the same way as a credit or debit card.

The new system does not pull expired passes, neither will it import health insurance cards. These exceptions serve to streamline the user experience, focusing only on active and valid cards.

In addition to this, the new update brings the advantage of in-app payment notifications. Instead of notifications being pushed from Google Play services on your device, all notifications can now be found in one convenient location.

This means that right on your wrist, thanks to the latest upgrade to Wear OS watches, all your loyalty cards are within easy reach. A convenient and time-saving feature for all smartwatch users.
