To successfully switch from SMS to RCS, you need to download and launch the Messages app on your device. Then, follow all the steps to enable the chat function.
- Open the Play Store app and search for the Messages app.
- In the available list of apps, find and tap on the Messages icon. Then, to initiate the installation process, press the Install button, and after completion, click the Open button.
- The app uses device scanning to detect spam and sends some data about these messages to Google, excluding the content of your message or phone number. Press OK to continue.
- If you want to start using the Messages app, you should set this app as the default chat program.
- You're almost ready to communicate! But first, touch the three dots in the upper right corner, and then tap on the Settings tab.
- Next, select the chat function parameter. So, use the slider to use Wi-Fi or data for messaging when available.
- In the pop-up window, familiarize yourself with some information about enabling chat features from Google. If you want to proceed, confirm that you agree with the terms of service and privacy policy.
