Commonly, smartwatches are envisioned as sophisticated accessories, the likes of Apple Watch. Yet, Casio is venturing towards an entirely distinctive path, creating a new robust Rangeman G-Shock wearable. The launch will showcase two models: the Rangeman GPR-H1000-1 and the GPR-H1000-9.
Both have been manufactured utilizing a bio-based resin, with meticulously set metal protectors surrounding the dial to shield delicate parts, such as main control button, sensors and GPS antenna on the smartwatch from collisions. The steel buttons are furnished with 'gasket fittings' to prevent infiltration of dirt or dust.
Casio has tailored the Rangeman pair specifically for outdoor aficionados or sports players desiring a resilient and reliable wrist gadget that wouldn't falter amid exciting activities. Each gadget is incorporated with sensor technology that monitors bodily activities.
The optical heart rate sensor tracks your heart rate; its accelerometer assesses your movement, and a gyroscope assists in swimming activities; the last sensor, Casio claims, can document your pool laps. Moreover, the Rangeman series boasts extensive GPS capability, featuring compass, thermometer, altimeter, and barometer to keep you updated with environmental changes.
While some may argue the need for an altimeter and barometer, they are crucial for the nine activities the smartwatches support, comprising biking, trail running, swimming in open waters and gym exercises. Speaking of open waters, the gadgets display a tide graph that notifies you of the high and low tide timings, helping to 'maximize water sports.'
Other impressive features are analysis tools indicating your bodily strain, self-management tools to measure your recuperation progress and inbuilt solar charging for the battery. Both models, when compared side by side seem to be identical in terms of size, weight, and functions. The only noticed difference is that model GPRH-1000-1 is available in black color while model GPRH-1000-9 comes in a striking banana yellow.
Casio was enquired if the smartwatches have any unique features or if it's merely the color difference. The story will be updated subsequently. The Rangeman G-Shock wearable is open for pre-orders on Casio's website at a price of $500. The official launch date isn't announced yet, however, based on a report by Hypebeast, the launch would be around January 19 in Japan.
