The iPhone 15 line, the latest series from Apple, is expected to introduce a new model, the 'iPhone 15 Ultra', according to a number of sources. This latest model is expected to have significantly more impressive features, such as a larger display and a 10x periscope camera lens. These rumours have been confirmed by various individuals in the tech sector, including Andrew O'Hara of AppleInsider. Alongside the Ultra, the new line will also feature Plus, Pro, and standard models. O'Hara stated, "Multiple sources have told me Apple will indeed use the 'iPhone 15 Ultra' moniker for the plus-sized pro phone."
For those who might not know, a periscope or folded camera lens increases a smartphone's zoom capabilities by 5x or 10x. This compact technology is designed to use minimal space within the device's structure. If the new iPhone Ultra employs a periscope lens, it will be the first of its kind in Apple's lineup. This advancement positions Apple alongside competitors like Samsung and Huawei, who have already incorporated periscope lenses into their devices.
O'Hara mentioned that the iPhone 15 Ultra will likely include a periscope camera lens with 10x optical zoom. Along with it, new models of the Pro and Ultra are also expected to be made of titanium. This coincides with previously reported rumours. Titanium, although similar in strength to steel, is around 45 per cent lighter, which could make these phones easier to handle. In addition, titanium can withstand higher temperatures than steel and offers similar water-resistance. Both Pro and Ultra models might also feature new 'Action Buttons', replacing the traditional mute toggle.
According to O'Hara, there is an 80 per cent chance that the Ultra model will be launched next month. It has been suggested that Apple will hold its traditional September event on either the 12th or 13th of the month, with pre-orders possibly commencing a week later. He added, "Excited for there to be a reason — other than the screen and battery — to get the larger 'pro' phone. Not long until we find out for sure!"
Earlier this month, Apple unveiled its Vision Pro headset, generating excitement amid a backdrop of fierce competition with Meta. But the tech giant isn't satisfied with just that, if leaks are to be believed. According to these leaks, new models of the iPhone, Apple Watches and Macs could be released over the course of the next 12 months. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has noted that as many as 18 new devices could hit the markets next year. With the company's traditional September event around the corner, fans are eagerly waiting for what Apple has up its sleeve.
