The 2023 iPhone Photography Awards have celebrated the jaw-dropping creativity of iPhone users around the world. This annual competition has gained global acclaim since its inception in 2007, challenging photographers to capture stunning images using only an iPhone or an iPad. The contest restrictions also ban the use of any image editing software, including Photoshop, putting a real emphasis on raw talent and the potential of smartphone technology. This year, the contest was flooded by entries from over 140 countries, all brimming with pure, unfiltered creativity.

The grand prize winner of 2023, Mexican photographer Ivan Silva, impressed the judges with his extraordinary photograph of a young football enthusiast, shot with an iPhone 12 Pro. Several pictures that captivated the judges featured landscapes from different locations such as Devon, California, and Switzerland. Other notable images included a mesmerising photograph of three elephants traversing a barren landscape. Each image told its own unique story, capturing moments of extraordinary beauty, versatility, and tranquility.

Earning honourable mentions in various categories were a mix of striking images from around the globe. These included a dreamy shot of Dartmoor National Park, a dramatic photo of a Swiss mountain railway, and a haunting image of a group of elephants marching across a desolate terrain. The contest recognised images that showcased the photographer's ability to tell an engaging story by capturing a single, magical moment. Each shot characterised by its unique sense of perspective, sensitivity, and humour.

Various rewarding shots included breathtaking landscapes, impressive bird's eye views, and atmospheric shots of cable cars. There were also transfixing black-and-white photos of horses, eye-catching shots of elephants, and spectacular images of mountainscapes. Each of these earned an honourable mention in their respective categories, underlining the diversity of the photos and the skill of the photographers.

Among other honourable mentions, one notable winner was the beautifully composed photograph of a farm in the early morning, near the Dutch village of Thesinge. Captured by Ton Ensing on an iPhone 12 Pro, the photograph won the top prize in the landscape category. Other worthy mentions in the contest included an enchanting woodland picture by Giovanni Casini and a dramatic waterfall shot by Anthony Ginns. All of these images are a testament to both the technological advancements in smartphone cameras and the endless creativity of their users.
