The lineup was unveiled at the company's annual event in February 2023. It included three smartphones – the base model S23, as well as devices with the Plus and Ultra suffixes. Notably, this time the manufacturer chose not to be original and released all phones in the same colors. Therefore, the S23 Ultra colors will be the same as those for the 23 and 23+. It used to have different shades before.

Feature Highlights

In addition to the S23 colors, the models have other differences. Let's talk about them.

  • The base model S23 features with its 6.1-inch diagonal and the least capacious built-in battery—relatively modest by modern flagship standards at 3900 mAh, using a 25-watt power block (10 watts for wireless charging). The new model has 8 GB of RAM, and you can choose from two options for the permanent storage: 128 GB or 256 GB. The main camera consists of three modules: 50 MP (f/1.8, OIS), 12 MP (wide-angle, f/2.2 with autofocus), and 10 MP (f/2.4, with 3x zoom). The front camera is represented by a 12-megapixel module. The main camera supports 8K video recording at 30 fps.
  • The plus model of the flagship has an increased screen size by 0.5 inches, although its resolution remains the same. The battery capacity has grown to 4700 mAh, and the manufacturer used a 45-watt power block (and the same 10 watts for wireless charging). If the amount of RAM here is similar to the base model (8 GB), the permanent storage capacity has doubled and is available in either 256 GB or 512 GB.
  • The top model has corresponding characteristics and, compared to the other two models in the lineup, offers more capabilities: at least a larger screen (6.8 inches) and a more capacious battery (5000 mAh) with the same charging parameters (45 watts wired and 10 watts wireless). In addition to the configuration with 8 GB of RAM, there is another one with a whopping 12 GB, and the storage capacity is available in options of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB.

The main difference of the Galaxy Ultra from the two previous devices is its innovative camera. The main camera setup includes modules with a 200 MP sensor (f/1.7, OIS) and a 12 MP wide-angle camera (f/2.2 with autofocus). It features a telephoto sensor and a periscope module, each with 10 MP and three- and ten-fold optical zoom, respectively. The selfie camera captures images at 12 MP resolution.

Another distinction between the S23 and S23+ models and the S23 Ultra is the presence of the electronic stylus S Pen in the latter. This stylus expands the device's control capabilities, turning it into an analog of a graphic tablet.

Regarding general characteristics, the smartphones share the same processor, can operate on 5G networks, transmit data via Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6E. They also support electronic eSIM cards alongside standard SIM cards. Additionally, the devices can be wirelessly charged and serve as power sources for other gadgets.

The IP68 certification indicates that the new Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphones can be submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes without affecting their functionality.
