Earlier this year, in May, Samsung revealed the Samsung Rollable Flex. There is now a new leak that indicates the potential production timeline for the phone as well as some essential design and hardware specifications with which the phone is likely to be launched. Following Lenovo-owned Motorola's presentation of the Rizr concept, a 6.5-inch rollable pOLED display at the 2023 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung became a part of the rollable display conversation. Another significant brand that is rumored to be developing a rollable display phone is Oppo.

Tipster Revegnus (@Tech_Reve) hinted in a post that the Samsung Rollable Flex would enter mass production in 2025. The innovative phone is expected to feature Under Panel Camera technology, which implies the absence of visible camera sensors. The phone is also foreseen to have a zero-bezel design. During the initial presentation of the display, the rollable smartphone was said to be five times its original size when unrolled, stretching from 49 mm to 254.4 mm.

According to the South Korean tech giant, the display can be rolled and unrolled on an O-shaped axis, circumventing the constraints of current slideable and foldable screens. Samsung also announced plans to develop a Flex In & Out screen that could fold 360 degrees in both directions, as well as a Flex Hybrid display that combined folding and sliding technologies.

Additionally, the company said they would introduce a Slidable Flex Solo display capable of expanding from a 13-inch tablet to a 17-inch display. In the past, there were rumors suggesting that the company had also filed for a patent for a rollable smartphone. Images attached to the application showed a design with square edges, camera, and LED flash units on the back panel.

The volume buttons and power button were visible on the right edge, while a USB Type-C port and speaker grille were situated on the bottom edge. It wasn't clear whether the phone would be able to roll out on one or both sides. Keep up with Gadgets 360 for the latest news and updates on gadgets and tech.
