Qualcomm has officially introduced the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 Mobile Platform, a significant development aimed at enhancing the 5G experience for budget smartphone users.
This innovative processor promises to deliver gigabit 5G connectivity, ensuring fast internet speeds, extended battery life throughout the day, and improved camera functionalities such as Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and multi-frame noise reduction, vastly improving photo quality even on affordable devices.
Additionally, the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 features dual-band NavIC for precise location tracking, AI-powered audio for an immersive sound experience, supports FHD+ display resolutions for sharp visuals, and includes a Game Network Latency Manager for a smoother gaming experience.
The chip is manufactured using an efficient 4nm process, offering enhanced power savings, and incorporates Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ Technology, which can charge a device's battery to 50% in just about 15 minutes.
It boasts a Qualcomm Kryo CPU with speeds up to 2 GHz and has upgraded UFS 3.1 memory, allowing for quicker data processing and improved app performance, setting a new standard for entry-level 5G smartphones.
Qualcomm's initiative with the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 platform aims to democratize 5G by making it accessible to an additional 2.8 billion smartphone users across selected regions, promising up to 1 Gbps download speeds which are significantly quicker compared to current LTE offerings in similar price brackets.
Chris Patrick, a senior executive at Qualcomm, expressed pride in their achievement, highlighting the chip's balance between affordability, performance, and battery efficiency. Meanwhile, Muralikrishnan B, President of Xiaomi India, remarked on the partnership with Qualcomm to bring 5G to a wider audience, with Xiaomi slated to be the first to feature this new processor in their devices, anticipating a launch before the end of 2024.
