On Tuesday, OPPO, a leading global smart device brand, announced the launch of the OPPO A78 smartphone in India, equated to be a complete entertainment smartphone with the best-in-class battery as its prime feature. This device comes in two striking colour finishes - Aqua Green and Mist Black. It is priced competitively at Rs 17,499 and will be available for purchase from August 1 at major retail outlets, the OPPO E-Store, and Flipkart. The Aqua Green version of the A78 utilizes a double-layer process giving it OPPO’s foremost Diamond Matrix Design on a water-green base layer. Meanwhile, the Mist Black edition integrates a touch of yellow-green with its pure black base endowing the phone with a distinct metallic gloss.

In terms of design, the OPPO A78 has an Ultra-Slim Retro Design with a 2.5D right-angled middle frame and smoothed edges. The design ensures the phone is sleek, comfortable to hold and carry. Its screen is an AMOLED display capable of delivering deep blacks, great contrast, and true-to-life colours. The 6.4-inch FHD+ display boasts of features comparable to high-end handsets including a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling, a 180Hz touch sampling rate ensuring a quick touch response when playing games, and a smart adaptive backlighting feature that intelligently adjusts according to different light environments.

Speaking of its camera capabilities, the A78 4G comes with a 50MP main camera that promises to capture stunning pictures regardless of the setting. A secondary 2MP depth camera allows for delicate bokeh in portrait shots. The device includes a unique Dual-View Video function which can record simultaneously from the 8MP front and 50MP rear cameras, ultimately merging the footage into a single frame, providing an edge to creative vlog content. The A78 also holds the L1 Widevine certification, enabling it to support high-definition video streaming from all mainstream video platforms.

As for audio, the device comes with Dual Stereo Speakers equipped with Real Original Sound Technology, which was tested by Dirac. The audio output promises an immersive surround sound experience, regardless of whether the user is listening to music, watching videos, or playing games. Moreover, RAM can be expanded by an extra 8GB through OPPO’s RAM expansion technology. The device runs on ColorOS 13.1, based on Android 13, which bolsters privacy and performance with features like real-time translation by pointing the camera at a script. The smartphone also has 67W SUPERVOOC flash charging technology, offering one of the fastest charging speeds in this price category with a massive 5000mAh battery that can charge up to 73 per cent in just 30 minutes.
