The famed streaming pioneer, Netflix, is taking a novel direction in the realm of gaming with the launch of its new application. As a prominent pillar in the era of streaming movies and TV series, Netflix first started experimenting with gaming in November 2021. Now, the establishment has rolled out the app on App Store, exclusively for IOS users. However, enthusiasm should be kept in check, as no data about what games or when the app will invade our television screens has yet been divulged. Netflix's reticence can be observed through the terse message in the app description that reads: 'Coming soon to Netflix.'

Netflix hasn't revealed any details about the games that will be featured on its gaming app. Yet, there's been widespread speculation that around 40 games will be unveiled this year. Additionally, it's believed that the streaming behemoth is contemporaneously working on another 70 projects with its associates. Named "Netflix Game Controller", the new app will let users tranform their smartphones into gaming controllers to play games on their TVs -- without the need for lavish gaming consoles.

The app will flaunt an interface that closely resembles PlayStation or Xbox controllers, complete with four buttons of varying colours. It will also feature a moveable direction toggle and a top-menu button. As of October 2022, Netflix publicly declared its ambitions to venture into the domain of cloud streaming technology. According to the Vice President of gaming at Netflix, during the TechCrunch Disrupt event, the aim was not to rival PlayStation or Xbox but to offer added value to the user experience.

He asserted that their enterprise involved an altogether distinct business model, with the goal of fostering an intuitive method to play games regardless of location. The app's controller is expected to contain four buttons of diverse colours and a manoeuvrable toggle, similar to a PlayStation controller. During March 2023, Netflix revealed plans to roll out 40 games over the ensuing year.

The platform also divulged ongoing collaborations with its partners to create 70 additional games, in addition to 16 that would be generated in Netflix’s own studio. The streaming colossus will even pair up with other franchises to provide particular games to consumers without any added cost. The application will be only accessible on Apple devices with iOS 15 software or later on, with Android users facing a longer wait.
