Microsoft has introduced a new element to its Teams for Education service known as School Connection, which aims to provide parents with a more effective way to monitor their children's academic progress.
Microsoft expands on the concept of School Connection in detail, stating that it is specifically tailored for use on smartphones by students from kindergarten through to the 12th grade.
The functionality enables parents and guardians to view their children's forthcoming school assignments. They can identify which assignments are still to be submitted, which ones have already been handed in, and any overdue assignments yet to be handed in by their children.
Parents with multiple school-age children can use the new School Connection feature to keep track of all of their kids' academic activities and accomplishments, even if their children attend different schools and are at different grade levels.
Microsoft has added: On the Teams mobile app, one can observe monthly trends in a student's digital activity, reading progress, and assignment submissions. By acknowledging their child's strengths and areas needing improvement, parents can provide more focused support.
If interested in having School Connection feature supported by their local schools, parents can approach school administrators to initiate the process. However, School Connection is currently not available in all Microsoft Teams for Education markets, particularly in the EMEA regions (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
Schools in these areas who wish to sign up for School Connection can express their interest. Microsoft introduced the Teams for Education app in October, and has added several new features since its launch until early December, which include the ability for educators to reuse modules and receive feedback from students regarding their assignments.
