Reliance Jio, one of India's leading telecommunications companies, is reportedly making preparations to release two 5G smartphones within the country. Speculation suggests these new devices will be announced at a forthcoming event, planned by Reliance Industries for the 28th of August, 2023. Suspicions have been amplified by the discovery of two smartphones, as yet unidentified by anything more than their potential model numbers; JBV161W1 and JBV162W1, on India's Bureau of Indian Standards certification site.

These reports have suggested the upcoming devices are most likely being assembled in India's Noida. While the details of these devices largely remain unclear, the leaked information comes with some specific claims about their pricing. One user from X, formerly known as Twitter, stated in a post that the much anticipated Jio 5G phone could cost less than Rs 10,000, a price set to make it very competitive in the evolving Indian market.

The user added since their post, “The phone is expected to release between Diwali and New Year." This positioning suggests a strategic debut during India’s prime festive season when consumer spending will typically be high. However, this is unconfirmed, as is the rest of the information and as such remains speculative until officially confirmed by the company.

In terms of specifications, while nothing concrete has been offered by the company, some suggest the devices are expected to pack features akin to the Unisoc 5G or a Dimensity 700 processor. One user's post went onto hint on the camera specs, with possible options including a dual-rear camera setup of 13+2MP and a 5MP front camera.

Considering the dynamics of the market and the keen anticipation amongst users, these upcoming devices are likely to add an interesting dimension to the Indian smartphone market. However, until the official announcement, all such details should be treated as conjecture and consumers should await for authentic information set to be released by the telecommunications company itself.
