Quality of camera picture has become an essential factor when purchasing a smartphone. More and more people make daily use of their phone cameras and even professionals use these devices for content creation, fully relying on their high-resolution images and videos. It's no secret that the camera quality is a significant reason for Apple's iPhone immense popularity, and the current high-end model, the iPhone 14 Pro, doesn't disappoint in these aspects. However, its price can make aspiring customers dig deeper into their pockets.

Fortunately, there are a number of budget-friendly substitutes available for those who are budget-conscious. One of them is the impressive OnePlus 11, which uses Android, and offers video in 8K resolution and lenses made by Hasselblad, all for a significantly lower rate compared to the iPhone 14 Pro. Before deciding on your purchase, it's advisable to perform a comprehensive test to understand how each phone's camera performs under different situations, the modes it offers, and most importantly, how well these modes actually perform.

To perform a fair analysis, we examined the iPhone 14 Pro and the OnePlus 11 side by side, focusing on their key strengths and weaknesses in several aspects. We started with the camera aspects, including the megapixel count, lens focal lengths and apertures, and zoom capability. We then proceeded to understand the shooting modes provided by the phones’ native camera applications. Apart from the manual modes where the user has full control over the exposure settings, we also tried out special shooting modes like Night and Macro.

When it comes to the performance of the camera under low light, both devices showed a vast improvement over past phones, thanks to computational tricks and stabilisation technology. After testing the two side-by-side in the dark, it was clear that they both have improved their Night Mode shooting. Another significant aspect we inspected was the close-up photography capability. Both smartphones automatically switch to their ultra-wide lens when you get close to a subject, and we compared the level of detail each phone captures.

The facial portrait capability provided by OnePlus 11 which was extensively announced, and Apple’s , which have been subtly refining their facial capture modes on its flagship models for several years were also compared. While examining the videos, we compared how the 8K resolution feature of the OnePlus 11 stands up against the iPhone 14 Pro's 4K. It was clear that most users do not require the 8K feature and the 4K offered by iPhone was more than adequate for many users.

The physical properties of the devices also matter. If you are not happy with the display quality of your pictures or the size of the phone, it can nullify all the sophisticated features the phone possesses. Therefore, we also compared the physical aspects of the iPhone 14 Pro and the OnePlus 11 along with their screen resolutions. In addition to this, the battery life was another factor that was closely examined. The OnePlus 11 came with big promises of long battery life, so it was interesting to see how well it compared to the iPhone 14 Pro’s battery life.

Finally, when we looked at the price tags, the OnePlus 11 is significantly cheaper, which brings us to the question, are the additional features offered by the expensive iPhone 14 Pro worth it? Choosing a smartphone may depend on other factors than just the camera, so the final decision is yours, but hopefully, this analysis can provide better insights and aid in your decision-making.
