Honor, a smartphone manufacturer from China, has recently lifted the veil off a fresh handset model. The uniquely crafted model is the result of a landmark partnership with Porsche Design, a famed design establishment. The new phone bravely wears the title of RSR.
This thrilling news was divulged through a cryptic teaser, and the tale behind the moniker RSR was also unraveled. Based on informed speculations, the codename RSR emanates from the German term RennSport Rennwagen, translating to Racing Sports Car. This epithet is distinctly associated with the track-only editions of the iconic Porsche 911 vehicle.
The complete identity and design of the RSR model remain under the wraps for now. Yet, anticipations are rife that this model would accompany the soon-to-be-launched Magic 6 and Magic 6 Pro smartphones at the forthcoming mega event on January 11.
Two imminent smartphones from Honor, namely the Honor Magic 6 and Magic 6 Pro, are already catching eyes on China's Huawei Mall platform. A quick look at their displayed designs and color variants unveils a palette of black, white, green, purple, and cyan. These handsets will flaunt a circular rear camera module that shelters three lenses arranged in a triangular pattern.
Insights from exhibited snapshots clearly project that the Magic 6 Pro will feature a 100x zoom, presumably 10x optical zoom, outrunning the standard’s 50x zoom. Furthermore, this Pro variant is likely to showcase a dual selfie camera setup, a feature absent in the regular Magic 6, which will maintain a single-lens system.
Digging into the central hardware specifications, the Magic 6 range will draw its power from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processing chip. Based on Magic OS 8.0 that itself is built on Android 14, these models will proffer storage capacities, starting at 256GB and 512GB. However, the Pro variant claims to steal the spotlight with an exceptional 1TB top-tier storage option and an exclusive satellite connectivity attribute.
Industry whispers advocate that both Magic 6 and 6 Pro will feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, courtesy of the OmniVision OV50H sensor. It will also contain an ultra-wide 50-megapixel OV50M lens. The Magic 6 is predicted to house a 50-megapixel OV50M camera sensor for telephoto shots, while the Pro variant is likely to employ a Samsung HP3 camera sensor.
