Samsung’s Galaxy Foldable Smartphones are attracting people globally by transforming the foldable phone market. The use of advanced smartphone structures, diverging from traditional styles makes them an attraction. The focus here is on the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 which have particularly garnered visibility especially within South Korea and Europe.

The globally recognized IP rating helps to judge the competence of a device against dust and water. The first digit of this rating denotes its defense against dust and particles, while the second digit indicates water resistance. The higher the number, the better the resistance. The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 were the first foldable phones to obtain an impressive IPX8 rating. This has also been achieved subsequently by the Z Fold4, Z Flip4, Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 models.

The new feature, the Flex Window also known as the Cover Screen was designed and introduced first in the Galaxy Z Flip5. It enables users to use their device to click pictures, respond to notifications, watch videos and more without needing to unfold their smartphone. Linked to this, a product called a Flipsuit Case was designed for the Galaxy Z Flip5, featuring near-field communication (NFC) technology. When a programmed card is placed inside this case, the Flex Window can display pre-set content.

Another noteworthy feature is the FlexCam, a camera function targeting the high-quality rear camera, and Flex Window of the Galaxy Z Series. It helps users click pictures from a multitude of perspectives without the need for opening up their phone. Flex Mode combines with the Cover Screen to enable a hands-free photography experience. Furthermore, enabled with the option of Multi Window, the Galaxy Z series can have up to three windows open on display at once for multitasking.

One interesting feature is the Swipe Gesture which helps control the phone easily using finger swiping. The gesture modes help divide the screen effortlessly, and swipe two fingers from bottom to top to open new apps. This enhances multitasking and user-interface. Ultra Thin Glass, a key component of these devices ensures flexible folding while maintaining its scratch-resistant nature.

The Flex Hinge enhances the phone's durability and enables the functionality of Flex Mode. In the Flex Mode, which gets activated when the phone is partially folded, the phone can conveniently stand on a flat surface without an external phone stand. The Flex Mode Panel gives added benefit by supporting intuitive controls while consuming multimedia. Last but not least, the Taskbar facilitates quick transitions between the favourite apps and recently used apps, replicating a PC-like experience.

Following the latest technology trend, a truly full-screen display is made possible through the integration of the Under Display Camera. Thus, the front camera lies beneath the screen, eliminating the need for any notches or holes. The features of the foldable phones by Samsung are surely unlocking new potentials for smartphones. The cutting-edge UDC was first introduced in the Galaxy Z Fold3 and since then has been implemented into the Z Fold4 and the latest Z Fold5.
