Thus, it recognized the best apps, games, ebooks and audiobooks that have been published throughout this year in the Play Store in the United States, with the aim of reflecting trends for the year; a list in which it has introduced new award categories.
These new categories are those that recognize useful applications that use the latest technologies, such as AI, as well as experiences that work well on a wide range of devices, such as 'Best multi-device app and game' and 'The best for Google Play Games on PC'. For Google, the best application of 2023 is Imprint: Learn Visually, which explores different areas such as psychology, history, health or technology 'in a completely new way', according to a press release.
Similarly, the firm believes the best game this year is Honkai: Star Rail, a science fiction strategy title that features entities called Aeons who build reality and erase stars, among other actions. On the other hand, the company has made a count of the best 2023 applications according to their purposes, Bumble For Friends: Meet IRL being the best considered for fun.
